Green Zebra

The unique flavour of Green Zebra, sweet yet tangy, we think makes it one of the best green tomatoes around. Not only does it taste great, but with its beautifully coloured chartreuse skin with lime green strips it is also one of the most attractive.


Green Zebra was popularised by Californian chef Alice Waters of Chez Panisse who was one of the first to recognise the importance and uniqueness of using local and organic foods.


The tomato is ripe when there is a slight give to the fruit and the green stripes start to turn yellow – the earlier the tomato is picked the tangier the flavour, for sweeter flavour leave on the vine longer, but not too longer or fruit can become mealy.
